More Speed Paints

Did three more quick paintings from reference, 30-40 minutes. It's good practice and I enjoy doing it. The first two were more successful than the last. The overcast lighting conditions and the monochromatic color palette made it more challenging. I also need to practice structural forms, buildings, architecture, mechanical things... I tend to favor organic shapes. I don't know if speed paintings is the right term for these...Quick studies might be more accurate

Speed Painting

Going to try to do some work from reference for practice. This was a 30 min painting. More of these to come I hope.

Swamp Smuggler WIP update

A progress update. Just plugging away. Things are slowly coming together. Still a ways to go. I'm not sure how far i am gonna push the detail. I'm leaving things open ended. The foreground is the next area to focus on.

Swamp Smugglers WIP

Been working on this piece for the past few days. Every once and a while you have a break through type piece where it feels good from the start and goes beyond anything you've done so far. This one has been that type of piece. I really want to nail down the lighting and the fog and the reflections on the water. Just gonna keep plugging away, trying to stay patient and give myself time. Still a long way to go on this.

Thought i would try my hand at a painterly piece. I enjoy painting/drawing snow. Don't know where the creature came from aside from the fact that I enjoy furry snow yetis. I'm pleased with the results. I'll have to revisit this style in the future.

This piece was inspired by Goro Fujita. His robots are so full of personality and emotion. I figured I'd try my hand at one of my own. I Made a conscious decision to use more heavy black and not be afraid to darken areas out completely, more of a pen and ink style. I think it helps a lot in terms of defining the image and making it more readable, plus its fun to work that way I think.

Just a ten minute sketch. Started as absent minded doodling. I kind of liked the expression on the pigs face so I decided to post it.
